Break The Silence

She opened her mouth,

But nothing came out.

No sound, no utterance,

No whisper, no shout.

How could this be

She had so much to say?

It was like her voice

Just up and ran away.

Was it anger, was it fear?

It really didn't matter.

If she didn't speak up,

Her conscience would shatter.

She took a deep breath,

Looked them straight in the eyes,

Opened her mouth,

And let her voice rise.
